The guest house is a 20-minute walk from the station, but the hosts picked us up. On our last day we went into town to see the temples and left our bags at the house. They drove them down to the train station for us. The couple who run the place are so sweet and helpful. We had a lovely chat with the host in the morning and swapped stories. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and there was a hot bath in the bathroom. I wasn't sure about the Japanese-style tatami and futons, but I found them comfortable. Breakfast was huge and traditional, served in a cozy living room.

Keiko-san made us a really sumptuous breakfast, and everything in the room was comfortable and sufficient. We could make green tea ourselves, which was perfect for the rainy season. Shizuo also gave us free rides to and from the JR station. During our short two-day stay, Shizuo and Keiko-san made sure we were well looked after. They were such a lovely, welcoming couple, and this was the most hospitable stay I've had in Japan. Highly, highly recommend staying here when you visit Nikko.

Rindou's home looks lovely and was very clean. The bath was huge, clean, and had everything we needed. There's coin laundry if you need it, and the spacious room came with a table, tea, yukatas, and toothbrushes. The hosts were amazingly kind and helped us when we ran into trouble. It felt like being welcomed into the Japanese home I'd never had. Best place we've stayed across all our trips to Japan. Highly, highly recommend it if you're going to Nikko!

This lovely guesthouse sits in Nikko, a beautiful town with plenty of forest. The hosts made us feel welcome right away, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely styled, with a pot of tea waiting when we arrived. The internet and air-conditioning worked in every room, and it was very reasonably priced. The shared bathing area was great. We could easily have it to ourselves and get something like a private onsen experience. The hosts also made getting around easy. They picked up our bags earlier in the day, collected us later, and even drove us to the supermarket in the rain. We only wish we'd booked food, since we heard Keiko-san is a fantastic cook. Can't recommend this enough if you're after a homestay kind of experience.

We loved our stay and would definitely come back next time we're in Nikko. The hosts were wonderful, so kind and always ready to help. They picked us up from the train station, dropped us off, and even gave us a lift in the evening when we went to dinner. The Japanese-style breakfast was delicious and a perfect start before climbing the mountain. The location worked really well too, with everything reachable on foot, so we didn't need to buy expensive bus tickets.
