What an amazing guest house on an amazing island. I’ve been to many, many places in Japan, and the Oki Islands are the most beautiful I’ve seen. They’re Japan’s best-kept secret.

The ocean was so beautiful that it made me want to come back. On my recent SUP trip, it was the first time I’d seen water like that. I was glad they took pictures of us SUPing and gave them to me afterward. I dropped my iPhone, and Daru-san dove several times in the strong current to find it. I’m really grateful, and I’ll definitely return to see the ocean and our wonderful guide Daru-san again.

The owner was so kind. Since I was the only woman there, he even showed me to a private room. The bath was spacious and comfortable!

It’s probably the only guesthouse on Nishinoshima, and one of the cheapest. The owner has a unique personality. The entrance is a little difficult to spot because the place looks like a big private house. You can do laundry for a fee and use the induction cooktop to make simple meals.
