The family made us feel at home, both in their house and around town, and the hospitality made our first trip to Japan memorable. Their own onsen and shower were my favourites, even though I also tried several public onsen in the village. The inn is a few minutes' walk from the ski field entrance and well placed for restaurants, shops, and cafes. We booked dinner, and it was beautifully homemade, plentiful, and really delicious. I believe much of the produce was homegrown. It was our first proper traditional Japanese meal, and for the price I felt incredibly well fed. I’d be surprised to find anything similar in the major cities. For a cultural experience, this is a great place for couples or families who don’t mind an early night, since curfew is 10:30pm. After long ski days, we had warm, cozy nights here. I’ll choose Oyado Nozawaya again when I return with my family. Thank you for having us, and for all the warmth and care. 5 stars, highly recommend!

The room had lovely tatami floors, comfortable beds, nice lighting, and a spotless private toilet and sink. It was comfortable, and we could control the temperature. The inn is right in the middle of town. The owner and his family looked after every little part of our stay with real warmth. They got us lift ticket combos at the best price, and when we weren’t sure where the local bus stopped, he walked us there. I never usually write reviews, but this little family run inn was so lovely. Thank you for taking such good care of us!

We came back to Nozawa Onsen for a second visit and stayed in the same place for five nights at the end of 2025. The owner and family were warmly welcoming, and the food was great!

Even with the language barrier, the family running this hotel made us feel right at home. When my husband lost his wallet while skiing, they went out of their way to help us communicate with the police. The kaiseki meals were prepared with so much care, and they became some of our favourite dining experiences in Japan. We also loved the private onsen, the beautiful Japanese-style bedroom, and the quiet but convenient location. One of the highlights of our whole Japan trip. Thank you for everything!

The manager and his family are the kindest, most professional people I’ve met in a long time. This has to be the best place I’ve stayed. Thank you for making it so memorable. I’ll be back!
