The location right by the train station was great, and the service was excellent.

The room was awesome.

The room earns two stars for me, and the facilities do too. Service gets four, as does breakfast. The building was renovated after the hotel rebranded as koko hotel, so the lobby, restaurant, and other spaces look lovely. It’s about a three-minute walk from the station, on the side opposite downtown, which keeps the area pretty quiet. The carpet in the room felt new, but the unit bath is old, and the toilet seat was cold even in winter. The air conditioning is controlled centrally. I stayed on a February day that felt more like April, but only the heating was running, so I had to open the window. The staff were excellent: everyone was polite, smiling, and welcoming, whatever their age or gender. I often stay at koko hotels in Shizuoka, and their hospitality continues to impress me. I think that comes from good training and management. I had a pleasant stay, and breakfast was delicious. It’s not the usual business hotel buffet. You choose Japanese, Western, or the daily special, and the food is high quality with generous portions. I had Japanese food on the first day and the daily special, oyakodon, on the second. Maybe because it’s in Numazu, the filleted horse mackerel was especially delicious. koko Hotels has reasonable rates and good value, so it’s a solid choice if breakfast matters to you.
