Numazu Port Side House

The place is in a bad location, around a 40-45 minute walk from Numazu Station, and parking costs extra if you come by car. It's a house converted into lodging, not really a hotel or inn. The facilities are old, there's no shoe locker so footwear is left out, and there's no receptionist. Everything is handled by phone. I wouldn't recommend staying here. I overslept and was about 30 minutes late checking out. They said I could pay 2,000 yen instead of the usual 4,000 yen. I went to a convenience store to withdraw money, but the amount seemed strange and wasn't listed on the website. When I called the owner to complain, they threatened to charge me 5,000 yen if I kept complaining. I couldn't reach an understanding, so I called the police. They hid my luggage and shoes and insisted I pay a total penalty of 14,500 yen, even though I wasn't staying there anymore. I ended up paying. It was an awful experience, with what felt like blackmail and terrible treatment. This place is a rip-off, and they seem to have no qualms about fraudulent acts. I don't want to give it even one star, but the review requires a rating.

I had to make a lot of phone calls about the reservation. They called the day before, again on the day, as they got closer, and again when they arrived. Once everyone staying that day had arrived, they said the cars would be switched, so I had to get up at 9:30pm and stay in my room. The windows had no curtains, even by the bath, so people outside could see right in. I left drinks and food for the second day in the shared fridge, but when I came back, everything was gone. They said they couldn't take responsibility because it was a shared space. At around 11:30pm, the lights in the room suddenly came on. I went out drinking, and neither the taxi driver nor the taxi company knew where I was staying. It's an unusual place, and I learned not to stay somewhere without staff.

This was one of the least satisfying places I've stayed. We booked that day and hadn't been given enough information in advance, but when we were a little late to check in, they rudely told us to pay 4,000 yen or cancel. It left me really uncomfortable. The room price was reasonable for somewhere we were only using to sleep, but the service and other factors made the stay unpleasant, so we booked somewhere else.

There were dead insects around the room, and the lights worked only sometimes. Towels and toothbrushes cost extra because there are almost no amenities, and parking is charged too. The phone answering service is unmanned and unfriendly. This isn't a hotel, and I don't understand why a place like this exists. I've decided to always read reviews after this mistake. I give it one star only because I can't rate it lower.
