Hotel Musashi

The location is good, and although it's an old business hotel, I think they keep it clean. At breakfast, rice isn't self-serve. A staff lady dishes it out for you. The unpleasant part happened after I handed in my breakfast ticket. While I was eating, an employee started making a fuss about one ticket being missing. They checked with the guests one by one and confronted me in front of everyone, saying they didn't have the ticket for my room. It turned out another employee had collected mine. Mistakes happen, so I don't blame them for that, but I would have liked an apology. After all that commotion, being left without one made the food taste worse. It was an upsetting experience, so one star.

The breakfast buffet has a nice selection of tasty dishes, mostly Japanese, and breakfast is included. The service was generally good, and the parking lot is large and easy to find if you're driving. I thought the stay was good value and would come back. The hotel is older, but both the building and rooms are clean and well maintained. The amenities feel dated, though they're adequate. It's near Obihiro Station, with a restaurant district close by and a convenience store nearby.

The beds and Tempur-Pedic pillows were excellent. I wondered if the mattress would be too soft and give me back pain, but I slept really well. I was on a motorcycle tour, and the hotel lets you park your bike indoors if you reserve ahead. Breakfast was delicious too. One dish looked like taro root stew but turned out to be potato, with an elegant, almost celebratory feel. The coffee was surprisingly good. I'd recommend it if you don't need a public bath.

Free breakfast is a nice bonus, and I'm satisfied with the stay. The bathroom shower was a bit weak. The heating was turned down low but still felt hot, and leaving it on made the room very dry.
