The price is low for what you get, and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Dinner was mostly local food, prepared well by the courteous chef, and breakfast was Western and carefully cooked. Meals are served in the old samurai (?) house across the way, which is interesting to see on its own. The host is welcoming, and while the place is modest, it feels warm and cozy. My room was small but clean and tidy, and the retreat was quiet.

The location worked perfectly for visiting Iwami Ginzan and the surrounding area. The ryokan is lovely, clean throughout, and modernized, with a fantastic breakfast option and excellent staff. The friendly local staff chatted with me about the area's history and its present-day situation, and I learned a lot. Very much recommended for a visit to Iwami Ginzan.

It was so quiet at night that our family could really relax. The staff were very friendly, and the inn had a homey feel. Dinner was elaborate, mainly Chinese cuisine, and outstanding. A friend in Shimane had told me the chef used to cook at a famous local restaurant, so that wasn't a surprise. Breakfast was delicious too, and the stay felt like excellent value for money. The inn is in a World Heritage Site area and was easy to reach from the Izumo area thanks to the San'in Expressway. I'd definitely like to visit again.
