I've only come here for the onsen. Shampoo and body wash are included in the price, though the hair dryer costs 100 yen. You can bathe indoors or outside, and it looks gorgeous whatever the season. The washing area inside is showing its age, but that gives the place some character. Afterwards there's a carpeted lounge with a few vending machines and a good choice of drinks. Two massage chairs face the tv, with wooden benches behind them.
Book dinner as well if you come here, the local "kiritampo" is part of it, sticky rice in a hot pot. The onsen is fabulous, looking out at pine-covered hills with the sun coming over the ridge in the morning. It's a lovely little place despite feeling dated, and the quiet rooms have wonderfully soft duvets.
Clean place with friendly people working there. Breakfast was nice and light, though I'd have liked to know in advance what we'd be getting.
You don't have to stay overnight to use the hotspring here. It's a little local place, nice and quiet, with accommodation too.
I've been coming since I was a child, and for me this is the best hot spring in Odate, value for money included. It's about 15 minutes by car from Odate city, tucked into peaceful forest with such a lovely atmosphere. The outdoor bath is lukewarm enough for a long soak, and the hotter indoor one balances it nicely. What really stands out is the floor, it's completely non-slip! With my two preschool children running around, that makes it feel safe. So many of Odate's hot springs have disappeared in recent years. I really hope this one stays forever.
