We came for the Namahage Festival, and it was exciting to see Namahage visit the lobby in the morning. They waved us off too, which was a fun start before we went to the museum and then the festival that evening. The onsen baths were wonderful for easing the tiredness from all the activity. Our room was spacious and relaxing, with a nice view from the big windows. The futon was just right, and we slept really well. Staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food and drinks were delicious with plenty of choice, and having a private dining room made meals especially relaxing. There are soft drink and alcohol vending machines, plus a shop with lots of souvenirs. The large lobby has plenty of seating if you want to sit and unwind. The area is run down, with lots of abandoned buildings, and even the hotel feels a little like it could be left behind. Things need updating and replacing. I hope the hotel and the area get a boost soon.

The surrounding town is run down, with quite a few abandoned buildings, and the hotel itself could use a refresh. It was clean, but some linens need replacing and many windows are hazy. It’s also a very large place, while we prefer somewhere cozier. We stayed during the Namehage Sedo Festival. Free shuttles run to the train station, and there are paid coaches for the festival. In Namehage season, some Namehage came into the hotel in the morning to check that everyone was behaving, which was a lot of fun. The hotel was warm throughout, the onsen was great, and the staff were all cheerful, welcoming, and attentive. Our room was big and comfortable, with a separate toilet and bathroom, and the futons made for good sleep. We had a private dining room, and every dish was delicious.
