Grand Base Okayama Ekimae

I booked the wrong month for our stay, October instead of November, through a third party, and the rate was non-refundable. I couldn’t change the dates or cancel without losing the full amount. I called Grand Base and was very lucky to reach someone who spoke excellent English. They helped cancel the booking and gave me a full refund. I was shocked by how polite and sincere they were in trying to help. Sadly, we couldn’t book the correct dates because they were fully occupied. We didn’t stay at Grand Base Okayama, but I wanted to mention the excellent service. This kind of honesty, kindness, and helpfulness is why we visit Japan every year.

The room was small, but clean and had everything we needed. The location was really good, close to the station, shops, and plenty of nice restaurants. The start of our stay, though, was a disaster: staff hadn’t sent the codes for the front entrance or our room, so when we arrived in the evening we couldn’t get in. We couldn’t call the Japanese number as foreigners, and eventually a woman from the shop opposite lent us her phone. Thanks to her, we reached the staff and got the door codes. After that, everything went well.

Getting into the room was straightforward, and everything had been arranged smoothly before I arrived. There was no staff interaction or front desk check-in, but that worked well. The room was spacious, comfortable, and equipped with what I needed. I also liked how convenient the location was for exploring the area and using nearby transport. My stay at Grand Base Okayama Ekimae was excellent, and I’d recommend it for an easy, enjoyable visit to Okayama.

The hotel had no staff on site, and the front entrance needed a code that never arrived. No one answered the hotline. Agoda also tried to reach the hotel but said they got no response. We were locked out for two hours and eventually had to book somewhere else.
