TKD HOUSE Asahikawa

This was the most unpleasant stay of my trip, and possibly the worst accommodation I’ve ever booked. I won’t stay here again. Getting into the house was a mess. The owner said check-in instructions would arrive by email the day before, but nothing came. I emailed the day before and again on check-in day, with no reply. We drove over from another location and arrived around 7pm, unable to get in and with no contact number provided. Japanese guests on the first floor kindly tried to help, but even the emergency number in the house information booklet didn’t work. We spent two hours trying to reach someone and even went to a nearby police post for help. When we finally got through, the owner argued that the email had been sent. It hadn’t reached me: I had an eSIM, data throughout the trip, and received other people’s emails. I also checked spam and junk. Our unit was on the third floor, so we had to carry our suitcases up two flights of stairs because there’s no lift. The beds were old, uncomfortable, and loudly creaked whenever we moved. The water temperature swung from very hot to very cold about every 20 seconds while bathing, and water turned yellow after being boiled in the kettle. The only good points were the spacious unit and its two toilets. After the stay I tried to post a review on agoda, but couldn’t submit it. Then the site said reviews weren’t available for this property, which struck me as highly suspicious.

For our 2023 summer family trip, I booked this room through Agoda. The agent said they would refund 700 JPY per day for parking. I kept all the receipts and contacted them on Agoda, but nothing was refunded and there’s been no update for a month. Terrible service. I wish there were a zero-star option.

I checked in during August 2025, and the room was bright and very clean. Having two toilets was convenient, the host was thoughtful, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Highly recommended.
