Okinawa Grand Mer Resort

The location was great for getting to lots of places and amenities, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby felt inviting, and our room was spacious and clean. It could use a little updating, like a new toilet and fresh caulking. Since the genkan is where shoes go, maybe there should be signs reminding guests to take them off. The hallways could use a carpet cleaning, or maybe tile like downstairs by the elevator to brighten them up. The pool area needs an upgrade too, and a newer TV with phone casting would be nice. Still, we had a great stay.

We only stayed two nights, and the room was spacious, so we didn’t bother asking to move. It looked clean at first, but some spots were dirty and the smell was awful. There’s no bathroom exhaust fan, so we showered in the pool changing room downstairs to keep the upstairs from getting steamy. The little indoor pool may suit small children, but it’s too small for adults, and two families fill it up. There’s no outdoor pool. Some staff were kind, while others were mean, and that attitude felt especially out of place at a property that looks so shabby and calls itself family friendly. We booked for one adult and three children aged 3 to 12, then were charged ¥550 extra for our three-year-old, who ate maybe 20 grams of food, if any. Breakfast moved during our stay: it was good on the ground floor and just okay on the second floor. The car park is included in the price, though I wouldn’t call it free. At ¥25,000 a night, this felt like a big rip-off for an average hotel that’s aging quickly. We’re back in the area for three nights at the end of the month and booked somewhere else. Avoid it.

I was close to the beach, malls, and the other places I needed to get to. The room was clean, pleasant, and roomy, and the friendly staff made the stay feel relaxing. I’m glad I stayed here.

My husband and I spent 23 nights here, and the team made us feel so welcome. The reservation, front desk, and concierge staff were all professional, friendly, and helpful. The amenities were the best we’ve had compared with other hotels. I’m very grateful for their warmth.
