The hosts made us feel completely welcome and went out of their way with advice on places to eat and see. They even kindly drove us to Heisenji Shrine. The breakfast they made was delicious and clearly prepared with care. The house has a beautiful design and felt so cozy on cold evenings. This was our favourite guesthouse in Japan. Thanks for a lovely stay!

The owner gave me a lift to the bus stop after I got the train timetable wrong. The guest house is peaceful and welcoming, in a great location, and the recommendations were excellent.

I stayed in the shared bunks and had the whole area to myself, which was a nice bonus. Private rooms are available too. The stairs to the second floor are pretty steep, so take care. The bathroom is modern and spotless. Dorm guests have small but new, very clean showers, while the bath is for private room guests. Café & Guesthouse Namakemono is a warm, charming place with lovely wooden architecture. Inside, there’s an open tatami room with comfortable chairs and a calm, relaxing feel. It’s family-run, and you can tell a lot of care has gone into the details. The owner, the dad of the family, is also the chef. He made me a delicious panini and vegetable soup tailored for me as a vegetarian, which I really appreciated. That personal attention is rare. The coffee was fantastic too. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful, a great place to unwind. A wonderful stay if you’re passing through Fukui and want somewhere homey and memorable.

I only stopped briefly on the way, but this charming place really impressed me. The owner was exceptionally thoughtful and nice. I loved how the traditional old house, cafe, and dormitory come together, with the modern amenities you need. It has a relaxing, creative cafe atmosphere, and the private dorms, bathrooms, showers, and common areas were all comfortable and very clean.

The mornings were a highlight, with a carefully made, delicately delicious breakfast and soft Jazz playing. Futami-san puts an incredible amount of care into his work, and I have a lot of respect for him and all his crafts. The cafe and guest house have clean, cozy dorms, elegant traditional Japanese interiors, and modern restrooms and showers, along with an artisanal selection of food and drinks. Namakemono is a charming place in a quiet, enchanting area, just right if you want a traditional Japanese stay. I absolutely loved it and will come back if I’m in Ono again. Thank you!
