Fuji Hostel

The shopping street is just around the corner, and the station, temples, and ocean are all within easy reach. I loved staying here and in Onomichi, and I’ll definitely come back. It’s a small, cozy hostel with good facilities. There’s just one toilet and one shower/bath, but with few other guests during my stay, that wasn’t an issue. The hosts were so welcoming and hospitable that they even drove me to the train station.

We had a lovely bike tour thanks to all the useful information we got for riding the Setonaikai islands. We were warmly welcomed at Fuji hostel, and I also want to thank our hostess for returning the bags we forgot. We left our umbrellas behind too, so please feel free to pass them on to anyone who needs them.

The host stayed up very late to let us in after our train arrived late, and we really appreciated that. It’s a sweet little hostel with kind hosts, and a good starting point for the shimanokaido, though the town is nice to spend time in too. The basic facilities are nicely done. There’s only one toilet, and the rooms are reached by very steep stairs, so it may not suit anyone who has trouble with stairs.

The owner gave us detailed advice on which cycling route to take and helped us store our bags since we planned to return to onomichi. She knows the area well. This is a great guesthouse with a thoughtful, kind, and incredibly helpful owner, and it’s an ideal place to set off from if you’re cycling.
