A lovely 100-year-old house in a nice area. You can walk to the train station, and it has everything you need.

I was in Onomichi for work and stayed at Kujira Annex. The shopping district, cafes, and local restaurants are close by, which made getting around easy. Inside, the renovated traditional Japanese house is thoughtfully designed, with little wasted space and a calm feel that made it easy to focus. It was also very quiet, a welcome place to unwind after work, and I appreciated the local warmth. I'd stay here again on another business trip to the area.

This was my second visit, and I had another wonderful time. The old Japanese house is full of details from earlier generations, from the delicate glass fittings to the carved transoms and alcoves. There's also a magnificent garden downstairs, while upstairs you can see all the way across Onomichi to the sea. It's a lovely place to relax after work, catch up with friends, or let children and family experience a traditional Japanese home. I'll definitely come back when I'm in Onomichi again.

The hill made getting there with luggage pretty tiring, and it wasn't easy to find. Cars can't go inside, so you have to use the paid parking lot at the bottom and make trips up and down if you're carrying a lot. lol Once we got settled, the old-style house was lovely and relaxing. Most basics were provided, so we cooked the food we'd bought. The first-floor sliding doors were a bit stiff and let in some cold, but the air conditioning and kotatsu kept the room warm. The kitchen itself was cold, though.
