Canopy By Hilton Osaka Umeda

The walk to JR Osaka and Osaka Metro Umeda stations took about 10 minutes through a maze of buildings and walkways, some indoors and some exposed to the elements. That's a small price to pay for a luxurious room and view at such good value. I stayed in a Premium View King Room and was blown away by the amenities and views. It had a full-size bathtub, rainfall shower, and separate toilet room. The bed was a proper king and very comfortable, with giant pillows. This was my favorite place I've stayed in Japan. It's a brand-new hotel in the heart of modern Umeda Osaka, and the stay felt truly five-star. Staff were equally incredible, spoke excellent English, and were always attentive and inviting. I didn't have a single issue.

The Panorama Suite was the highlight of our Osaka stay. We liked it so much that we barely left the hotel, with its lovely rooms and bar/restaurant, and added a fourth night after originally planning to stay three. We first spent two nights in the Corner Suite, looking out over Osaka Station and the park beside it, then moved to the Panorama Suite for our last two nights after coming back from Niseko to relax before heading home. A lot of the credit goes to the staff. Keisuke handled our check-in, answered all my questions about booking with Amex, suggested the suite upgrade, and spotted that I’d overpaid. He sorted it out and called as soon as it was resolved. He also arranged the room move so we didn’t have to deal with anything ourselves. Nao had the Panorama Suite ready for us to see before we went out, and made sure our luggage was moved quickly. When I couldn’t call a restaurant to book because I had an international number, Lin took care of the reservation. The restaurant knew we were from Canopy before we’d even said anything. Tago made extending our stay easy too, sorting out the earlier booking and new arrangement in about five minutes and giving us options to simplify things. Seina was always helpful at breakfast, made sure we were seated promptly, and was especially kind to my partner. We could tell she worked incredibly hard. My partner also wants to thank the chefs for the great breakfasts, the housekeeping team for making the apartment feel brand new each time, the people who made her coffees, and the funny Thursday night entertainment. We’re grateful to everyone, and would recommend Canopy to anyone staying in Osaka. These people were a big reason we chose to stay an extra night. Thank you!

Breakfast was delicious, full of flavor, and the room service arrived promptly and was good too. Our room was spacious and clean, with a cute view of the city. The location worked well for us. Just note that the lobby is on the 11th floor. There are cafeterias, bars, and a Lawson in the same building, and it connects to the building across the way. The water setup was handy as well: besides the bottles in the room, there’s a pitcher there and water and ice stations on every floor.

That clear shower-room door was the one thing I’d change. There’s no blind, and because the luggage storage and room entrance are also inside the bathroom, the other person can’t get to their things or come and go without seeing the shower while someone’s using it. Everything else made for a great stay. The rooms are roomy, even the smallest is 35m2, and the hotel is close to the heart of Umeda while still being 8-10 minutes on foot from Osaka station. A sky bridge links it with the Umeda network. The staff speak great English, and one of them kindly called the car rental company to sort out changes to my booking. They were also quick to reply to my questions by email before I arrived. This is the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Osaka so far. I’ll be back.
