Getting around all the floors was the annoying part. Water is on 2F, lockers on 4F, my room on 3F, and the sauna and hair styling on 2F, so expect plenty of walking up and down until you find a routine. You have to leave during the day, though you can keep luggage there if you’ve booked multiple nights. The lockers are full height, but don’t hold much more than a soft carry-on. I’m glad the deluxe capsules weren’t my first capsule experience. I liked them and the interior design, though mine ran a little hot and the fan seemed to do nothing but make noise. Plan to sleep with the door ajar. The capsule floor was much quieter than the one I’d experienced in Shinjuku, probably thanks to the carpet and acoustic treatments. It’s a huge place to explore, with some excellent design. Staff told me the major renovation was completed in 2025 for the Osaka World's Fair. The onsen takes up three floors and wasn’t very busy. Even Saturday night never felt crowded. I’d suggest staying at least two nights, maybe three, because by the time you’ve figured out the place and how it works, it’s time to go.

I upgraded to a room and still ended up with a capsule, so I definitely won’t stay at this hostel again. You have to check out and back in each day, and leave the hostel for 3-4 hours daily. On Monday, the property has to be vacated from 10am to 3pm, even if you’re staying consecutive nights. Not recommended!

It took a little getting used to, especially the nudity in the baths, which caught me off guard as an Australian. But I adapted, and the experience really changed how I think about shyness. I’m glad I stayed, even though the place wasn’t what I expected. It seems aimed more at salarymab looking to unwind. Look up how to use an onsen before you go, and give it a try. It’s an amazing experience.

For one night, I’d recommend it as a unique experience. The baths are wild if you haven’t spent much time in Japan, and the retro bunks have a certain charm. My bunk had a lot of problems, though. The WiFi, outlet, and air vent didn’t work, so it got really hot at night. The light flickered and only worked about half the time. My backpack wouldn’t fit in the locker unless I unpacked it first. Checkout at 10 was earlier than usual, and the long list of rules, including checking in and out with a paper slip, made me feel a bit like a prisoner.

It’s good value for a simple night in the city, especially if you want a great onsen included in the price. This men-only Capsule Inn Osaka is clean and practical, with lockers, drink vending machines, laundry facilities, and a fresh yukata each day. It’s conveniently close to Osaka Station, with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. The place feels more functional than cozy. Staff were professional but not especially friendly, and everyone has to check out by 10:00 each morning even on a multi-day booking. There’s also no luggage storage on your departure day. No tattoos allowed.
