Cocoroom Guesthouse Cafe and Garden - Hostel

Interesting people seem to find their way to this hostel. It's in a good spot near a metro stop, with a nice shared area and seating both indoors and outside. They also serve a family style meal at a reasonable price.

I only visited the shop and coffee shop, not the accommodation. The place has a creative, hippie feel and great vibes, with lots of decorative details that make the atmosphere lovely. They serve lunch and dinner, and visitors are welcome to join for ¥1,300-¥1,500. They also have a program where you can pay a little extra to cover a meal or coffee for someone less fortunate. I wish I'd found it earlier in my trip so I could have gone more. From outside, it's hard to tell there's a coffee shop unless you stop to read the signs. Making that clearer might bring in more people for coffee.

People spent much of the day in the kitchen and dining area reading, working, eating, sleeping, chatting, and drinking. It's a lovely little gem in a central part of Osaka, with clean rooms, interesting paintings and art on the walls, and very friendly, helpful staff, owner, and friends. Come for a wholesome hostel stay.

Staying here gave me a real feel for everyday life in Osaka. There are little local restaurants and tiny karaoke bars nearby, and the subway is close too. The hostel has loads of character and color but is kept really clean. I loved the communal dinners, especially the handmade udon one night. They were tasty and healthy, and a welcome change from eating out every meal. Sometimes staff or a neighbor would stop by and play live music.
