Hotel Chuo Bridge

The room was simple and clean, and the rates are still affordable. The metro exit is very close, though the neighborhood feels a bit rough. Service was good, but in the mornings it was hard to get a locker, and lockers aren’t free. There are storage places next door that can help. I also noticed there’s now a construction site right beside the hotel.

The room had a desk and was just right for online work, with a bathtub too. It was clean, and after I dropped something I was surprised to find no dust under the bed. Don Quijote is nearby, handy for picking up a bento before checking in. The hotel is right across from dobutsuen-mae Station on the Metro, and I could also walk from Tennoji Station. I didn’t find the front desk staff as kind and friendly as some reviews suggested. I casually wrote down the street address as usual, but the clerk sternly told me to write the full room number. They didn’t explain the amenities at check-in either. I spotted a kettle on a shelf behind the counter and asked to borrow it. The next morning I went to the 1st floor lobby to find a microwave for coffee I’d bought outside. There I noticed free coffee, tea bags, hot water, and other things, along with the microwave.

I had a pretty decent five-night stay and didn’t run into any problems. The location worked well for me, and the room was bigger than I expected. The toilet was a bit small but manageable. The bed was on the soft side, while the pillow was too thin. Plenty of outlets, nice and approachable staff, and I could get fresh towels each day. Check-in and checkout were easy.

My flight was delayed, so I got there after midnight. I had already paid for the room, but the clerk at reception still refused to let me in and left me out on the street at night. He was arrogant too. He knew English, but said, “We speak Japanese only here.” A horrible experience, and nothing like this has happened to me anywhere else in Japan. Only at this hotel 😡
