I booked just a few days ahead, and one night cost only about ¥1100-¥1200. You get a privacy curtain, and there's a card pass for entering the building at night when nobody is at the front desk. It's a mixed dorm only. The guests don't always keep shared areas clean, either. People leave rubbish around the toilet, by the sink or on top of the bin, instead of stepping on the bin pedal and putting it inside.
There was a strong smell, and the place was very dirty. I've stayed in hostels all over the world, and this was one of the worst. TRY TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
It was really hard to find.
I'm staying here tonight. It's cheap, clean, and convenient, so I might come back, but if the problems haven't been fixed and I have the same experience next time, I won't use it again. The guest rooms are capsule-style boxes behind a door from the lobby, where there's a reception area, a small dining table, toilets, showers, and a refrigerator. The rooms have only a light switch and an outlet, with no air conditioning of their own. After the staff left around 10 PM, it gradually got hot and humid. The curtains are kept shut for security, which makes it hotter. One guest who seemed used to dorms slept with their curtain open. The staff were polite, and the rooms were clean, but they seemed to be gone after 10 PM. The first thing I saw going into the room area was a sign saying “No Wi-Fi.” The problem wasn't just a failed connection. The network listed on the sign didn't show up on my phone at all, while “wifistaff,” presumably for staff, appeared normally. That makes faulty equipment or weak reception in the rooms seem unlikely. The staff Wi-Fi wouldn't accept the password on the sign. Around 11 PM, another guest's phone rang. They stayed in their room and talked loudly for a long time, apparently on a video call, with the other person's voice easy to hear. The rooms are separated only by curtains, so everyone could hear it, and it was already past 11. I wish they'd gone to the lobby to talk. I tried calling the hotel's emergency contact number to ask staff to intervene, but after several minutes I still couldn't get through. After the automated message said to press 2 for emergencies, I was charged for the whole call. What good is an emergency number if it doesn't connect? There are four things I'd like them to address: make it a little cooler at night, since it's too hot to sleep even with blankets; make the Wi-Fi advertised on the sign usable; tell guests at check-in to take phone calls in the lobby or outside; and make sure the emergency number actually connects.
I've stayed in guesthouses and dorm rooms before, so I was comfortable here. The bathrooms, showers, and toilets were especially spacious, clean, and pleasant, though the shared area by the entrance felt a bit cramped. I stayed in November. Check-in and check-out were both unmanned, and I was unsure how check-in would work until I arrived. The instructions there helped me finish without trouble. I did find the way to unlock the entrance door from inside a little confusing.😅 Thanks for a nice stay!
