Hotel Taiyo

We booked this at the last minute on the train from the airport into Osaka, and they were able to take us. It was about 3,000¥ for one night through agoda. I was nervous before we booked, but the stay turned out fine, and the staff were friendly. It felt welcoming to foreigners, with guests from different countries as well as Japanese people. There’s a subway nearby, plus a sento bath, Donki, and a big mall. The room had a small TV, mini fridge, and AC. It isn’t dirty and has what you need, so it’s a good budget stay if you’re not expecting much.

The night I spent here was among the worst I’ve had, and I deeply regret paying for it. The room was filthy, with toenail clippings, hair, and used tissue on the floor. The place seemed badly run down, with yellow stains splattered across the wallpaper. The shared sinks and toilets were filthy too. I stayed dressed all night because I felt so unsafe and disgusted, and didn’t shower in the common area. I kept my door locked the entire time. Staff seemed indifferent. They acknowledged that the main entrance was left open and unattended all night, which they knew was a security issue. I was stuck here because of the accommodation situation in Osaka, and it’s shocking that Agoda lists this property at all. Avoid it, especially if you’re traveling alone as a woman or with children. If negative stars were possible, I’d give it several.

The staff were nice, but the hotel itself was poor throughout. I only booked it because there weren’t any other hotels available nearby. You could stay here if money is extremely tight, but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.

Getting around is easy, with transport, convenience stores, and a supermarket all close by. The building is clearly old, but that didn’t bother me. The price is very reasonable for a cheap stay.
