Hotel Yoshiya

The front desk gentleman, who seemed to handle everything, was incredibly kind and helpful, and the reception made the stay feel welcoming. We booked this small hotel at the last minute before arriving from Tokyo, and it turned out to be a great choice. The room was spotless and comfortable, with everything we needed for a very affordable price. The area looked a little rough at first, but we felt safe walking back late at night. I'd recommend it to travelers looking for a clean, convenient, welcoming place to stay in Osaka.

We arrived in Osaka a day before our original booking and urgently needed somewhere to stay. They were fully booked, but still managed to find us a room. The staff mostly speak Japanese, so don't expect fluent English, though they use a translation app quickly and are incredibly helpful. The hotel is handy for public transport and convenience stores. A genuinely great, 10/10 experience that saved us.

The room was very clean, and having YouTube was a nice extra. The owner is from mainland China and quite direct, though not rude. Getting to the metro was tiring because it's pretty far away. The area feels retro, with a shopping street full of bars to pass through, and lots of adult entertainment nearby, a bit like Taipei's Wanhua. A convenience store is close, but the supermarket takes around 7-8 minutes on foot, which felt far. The soundproofing is poor, so even talking a little loudly brought a complaint. I hadn't realized it was that bad. Guesthouse rules felt restrictive to me, but it's a good spot if you're trying to save money and want to be near adult entertainment.
