The hotel cost about three times as much as another hotel in the area. I paid the premium to relax, but was shocked by how budget the place felt and how the staff treated us. The ratings on booking don't match this experience, and I'm writing such a negative review for the first time to warn other customers who might be drawn in by those high ratings. I'd avoid it. They strictly allowed one towel per person. Staff who spoke no English had forgotten to replace my towel from the day before, and I spent 15 minutes discussing it with them. They eventually replaced it after I insisted, but initially asked me to pay a fee for a fresh towel. Checkout at 10am was enforced too. They rang our room phone nonstop starting at 9:45, and when we were 10 minutes late leaving, a staff member came in without permission. We were given just one key, which staff required us to leave with them whenever we went out. When we asked why, they said foreigners like us had caused insecurity lately. When we first entered the room, staff also insisted we mustn't take any of the items outside the hotel, in a way that felt accusatory. They told us they couldn't store our luggage for more than 2 hours after checkout, so we had to walk another 15 minutes with it to put it in a locker, although we'd planned to spend the day in Osaka.

The location was decent, but that was about the only positive. The hotel felt old and outdated and left a poor impression. At reception, the man made little effort to welcome us and gave almost no helpful information during check-in. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.

The Japanese-Style Room (Non-Smoking) had a vibe we really liked, and both the flooring and bedding were super comfortable. We were there for our last night in Osaka and would recommend the place, with no problem staying again. It was convenient to have a front desk open 24 hours. Staff were accommodating, and we could leave our suitcases there earlier so we could head out without them. Just know you only get one key. You have to drop it at the front desk whenever you leave and pick it up again when you return.

The ryokan was surprisingly comfortable to sleep on, and check-in was very friendly. They showed us the room, which was clean and big enough for two, with a table, two chairs, a safe, and a small wardrobe. You can't wear outdoor shoes in the room, but slippers are provided. You also have to leave the key at the front desk whenever you go out, which I thought was odd. The hotel is in a quiet area, still close to the main attractions. I'd recommend it for a unique experience.

The bath was the highlight for me, a perfect way to unwind after the bustle of Osaka. The futons were really nice and the rooms comfortable. The location is great for reaching Namba, Dotonbori, and various stations, and the hotel is exceptional value. An amazing, phenomenal experience all around.
