Mercure Tokyu Stay Osaka Namba

The location is the big plus, with Daimaru, Shinsaibashi & Dotonbori all an easy walk away. The rooms have good equipment, but the lighting needs attention. This is a hit-or-miss place, so keep your expectations in check despite the Mercure name. At the front desk, we had to go up to the staff ourselves while they were occupied and waiting there without a greeting. I hope management sees this. I’d return if the feedback is acted on and the reviews improve. 🙏🏽

The location is great, and most of the staff were fantastic. Even so, this was easily the worst of the four hotels I stayed in during two weeks in Japan. The rooms were unbelievably dark with the windows open and all the lights on. Having the bathroom sink beside the bed made no sense, and the shower pressure was awful. I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Shan at the Front Office was especially helpful, giving us detailed directions and explaining which station entrances and exits had elevators or escalators, the rail line colors, and even the signs on the trains. We really appreciated it, and never got lost in the crowds or confusing transport network. The staff were friendly and patient with all our questions. The room was a decent size and clean with our request for limited housekeeping. There’s lots of transport access nearby, plus plenty of meals, snacks, shopping, and places for a nightcap. Brighter lighting and another luggage rack for twin sharing would improve the room. We had a really pleasant stay, thanks to the team.

Having a washer and dryer right in the room was a real help in Japan’s very hot summer, so we were glad we booked one. The rooms are clean and stylish, with what felt like North American sizing, and the air conditioning was ice cold. Staff were friendly and helpful, and shops and restaurants are only a short walk away. We chose this place after a fantastic stay at Tokyu Stays Nagoya in August 2025. Some guests mentioned that the hotel feels dark, and I can see what they mean, but I liked the styling. We’d stay again, and Tokyu Stays is our go-to chain when we visit Japan.
