The quiet streets around Tanimachi 9-chome were part of the experience. A short walk from the station, HOTEL MYTH Luna felt like a little retreat, with warm lighting and a calm atmosphere. Inside, it was easy to forget the busy streets outside. I liked the comfortable, spacious bed, and the room had a massage chair, plenty of amenities, and a private sauna. The bathroom had floral tiles, and the lighting could be changed. There was even an exercise machine, though we ran out of time before trying it. The room was quiet with the shutters closed, and it felt like a place to step away from everyday life for a while. I'd be happy to come back with more time. HOTEL MYTH Luna is in the Tanimachi 9-chome area of Tennoji Ward, Osaka City, around a three-minute walk from Osaka Metro's Tanimachi 9-chome Station. Room options range from Type A to Type F, with specially equipped ratex rooms as well. Standard amenities include LCD TVs, Blu-ray players, Wi-Fi, microwaves, personal refrigerators, and hand massagers. Some rooms also have extras such as lotion mats. Select shampoos and curling dryers are available to borrow, along with member services and restaurant menus. The hotel has Rest, Relax, Stay, and Midnight pricing. Rates changed in November 2025. At that time, weekday 90-minute short stays started at about 5,700 yen, and weekday overnight stays at about 9,100 yen, for example, check-in at 8 PM and check-out at noon the next day. Extensions were about 1,100 to 1,400 yen per 30 minutes. Prices depend on room rank and whether it is a weekday, weekend, holiday, or the day before a holiday. Membership is free, with no annual fee, and can be set up right away at the in-room touch panel. The Happy Hotel app can also serve as a card. Members get 5% off from the day they join, with visit-based discounts rising to 10% for Silver, 15% for Gold, and 20% for Platinum. Registered birthdays and anniversaries can qualify for half off the basic room rate, though a minimum number of visits, such as 11, may be required. Members earn one point per 30 yen spent before tax. Points can cover room charges and food or drinks at one yen each, up to 10,000 yen, and can be combined with Happy Hotel Miles. Other member perks include same-day MYTH Reservation starting 30 minutes before arrival. Events can offer a 100% room-charge discount for completing stays in every room type, or 30% off a repeatedly used room through the Owner's Room Discount. A card or the app can be used at participating MYTH hotels in the same area. HOTEL MYTH Luna is in Area 1, which covers Kansai, Kanto, and Tokai, so visits and points can accumulate across participating hotels in places such as Osaka, Chiba, Tochigi, and Aichi. Area 2 covers Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu, and cards do not work across the two areas. Existing separate cards cannot be merged. If there is no use for three months, points and visit counts expire. At participating Area 1 hotels, the same card can be used in Osaka, Tokyo, or Nagoya, and visits count toward rank. Using the card or app when checking in gets the basic 5% discount. On our visit, we shut out the street noise and settled in with some wine we'd bought. My companion spent time looking over the room's features, including the massage chair and facial massager, and was excited by the bathroom and the way its lights changed. We both wished we'd left more time to explore. On the way out, we glanced at each other in the elevator without saying anything about what had just happened. Outside, Tanimachi 9-chome was just as it had been, though we felt a little different.

The toilet was clean, but the bathroom looked old and had mold. Its door was hard to shut, and there were several other issues. The air-conditioner filter in the room was extremely dusty too. For a hotel aiming for a luxurious feel, it needs a proper clean and renovation.

The place felt somewhat dated, though it had a good supply of amenities. The process is to pick a room type, get a key from the staffed front desk, then pay at the machine nearby. Credit cards work if they have an IC chip. Prepaid cards, especially, aren't accepted.

There’s plenty of room, but the place is showing its age.

The rooms were fairly roomy but nothing fancy, and some seemed dated. Water pressure in the bathroom was weak, and the prices felt a little high. I was surprised when a female staff member brought my meal directly to me. There was no staffed front desk or automatic lock, which I hadn't expected to find in Osaka. Quite a culture shock, Osaka is something else...lol
