Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka

The location was the standout. From the elevator, you’re right in Osaka-Uehommachi Station and at the entrance to the big Kintetsu department store. There are lots of food options in the basement and on the 12th floor, and you can get around and find what you need without going outdoors. The room was disappointing, especially since we were told at check-in it was "newly renovated." The beige bathtub looked old, some amenities were really grungy, and the edges and corners clearly hadn’t been cleaned well. The writing desk described to us wasn’t there either. Worst of all, there was no air conditioning. The climate system seemed ancient and could only provide heat or cooling, and they had it set to heat even though it was in the mid-20s outside, humid, and even hotter inside. The only window opened about 5 cm. We spent all four nights waking up sweaty, and the only fix they offered was a fan blowing the hot, humid air back at us. At over ¥35,000 a night, it felt like poor value, especially since we didn’t get a good night’s sleep. The swimming pool costs ¥1,500 per person per use, and using the fitness centre costs extra too, making it even more expensive.

The Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka has excellent service and a location right beside the train station, which made getting around, transferring to the airport, and taking day trips easy. The Kintetsu department store next door was handy for shopping, and there were plenty of places to eat nearby, from quick bites to sit-down meals. Staff were warm, professional, and attentive throughout. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but they’re showing their age and could use a modern update. We also heard some noise through the thin walls from neighboring rooms and the hallway. Light sleepers might want to bring earplugs. Even with those downsides, the convenient location, food choices, and attentive service made it a welcoming, practical base for exploring Osaka.

The bed was very comfortable, and I slept well. The room had classic furniture and warm, old-fashioned lighting, while breakfast was delicious and the food quality was excellent. The hotel is also conveniently close to the railway station. Staff showed me how to use the self-service check-in machine instead of going to reception, which was fine with me. A good stay, with comfort and traditional charm.

My Marriott Bonvoy Elite status was recognized and rewarded, and the club lounge was fantastic for breakfast, evening appetizers, and drinks. It was excellent value. The room got a little warm at night, but they provided fans. The spa and fitness center were great too. As an elite member, I got discounted full access to the lap pool and Sauna. I’d definitely recommend this property!
