THE LIVELY HONMACHI OSAKA / Vacation STAY 78286

The room size and beds worked really well for us, and we loved the location, vibe, luxury design, rooftop bar, and even the lovely diffused scent. The one thing that disturbed our sleep was early morning light getting through the perforated curtains. The staff were kind and super helpful. We especially liked the breakfast: the sandwiches were light but filling, and the food quality impressed us. We're not used to soup at breakfast, but it was light and tasty. The free coffee and tea on the 2nd floor were excellent. I prefer this a la carte breakfast to a buffet that turns into a stampede, and takeaway is easier too.

The location is a plus, with a 7-Eleven right outside. We stayed at the THE LIVELY Osaka Honmachi from April 10-12, 2026. It's a modern, youthful hotel, and the room was alright and comfortable for two adults and a teenager. We ordered dinner through room service, and the Japanese fried chicken rice bowl was good. It cost ¥1,400, since our other option was going to bed hungry. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast: it's just premade sandwiches and salad, and the coffee isn't good. The lounge on the second floor has better coffee. We arrived around midnight, and check-in was kind of lame because you have to fill out a form on the employee's iPad.

The location made for a great stay, with restaurants nearby and the closest Metro station just one minute away. A 7-11, Family Mart, and a Lawson's were all within two minutes on foot. The rooms were small, like many we've had in Japan, but laid out well. More storage would've helped, since our room looked like a laundry for one day. Free beer from 6pm to 7pm was a nice touch, as were the free drinks in the Work suite. Being able to prepare and eat our own breakfast helped a lot with budgeting.

The room was okay, but very dark and rustic, and the beds felt much too high even though being able to raise the top of the mattress was a cool feature. Breakfast tasted good, but you can only choose 3 sandwiches, and they were too small to leave you full. The coffee was horrible. After our long flight we just wanted to rest, but there was a DJ playing loud music in the lobby with a crowd of drunk people around. Check-in was a hassle too: a long form, then a tutorial video you have to watch and confirm you understood. We left after two days and found a nearby hotel that was much nicer, actually cheaper, and way better. Without saying too much, its name starts with “Dai” and ends with “wa” and „Roy“ and „net“. 😉 This could work if you want to party a bit with friends, but if you want to relax, choose something else.
