Jr West Group Via Inn Abeno Tennoji

Everything we needed was close by, and we were so glad we chose Via Inn Abeno Tennoji for our seven-night stay. Tennoji Station is only a few minutes away on foot, with a bridge linking it to the station and nearby malls. The elevator beside the drugstore is a handy way up to the bridge. The lobby is on the seventh floor, and Don Quijote can be reached from the fifth floor using the hotel elevator. There's a 7-Eleven next door, FamilyMart across the road, Tennoji Park right out front, plus drugstores and convenience stores nearby. Several attractions are walkable and others are a short train ride, so it made a great base for Osaka and had a more local, less touristy feel. Check-in and check-out use self-service machines. On our first day, a male and female staff member were there, but didn't offer help; it was easy enough, so that wasn't a problem. The following day a very friendly male staff member was incredibly kind and helpful, and everyone we dealt with after that was great. They answered our questions, especially about Yamato Transport, and helped with the process on checkout day. Our room didn't feel small, was cleaned daily, and had a lovely view of Tennoji Park. We could faintly hear trains, but it didn't bother us. The lobby view was great too, and we especially liked the heated toilet seat. Of all the hotels on our trip, this one provided the most toiletries, which we really appreciated. They also store luggage, have a lobby microwave and coin-operated washing machines on the 10th floor. Breakfast costs extra. We'd absolutely stay again and highly recommend it for a comfortable stay in such a convenient spot.

The accommodation itself was fine, but one employee's attitude left me extremely unhappy with the whole stay. On the morning of April 10, I asked the female staff member about weighing my carrier, and she answered in a very nervous way. The hotel should give staff appropriate service training. Because of that interaction, everything felt bad to me.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, but the pillow was absolutely the worst I've ever used, like sleeping on a bag of gravel. Staff seemed rather unfriendly. I guess they don't like dealing with tourists who don't know how the automated check-in works.

The hotel and its location are fantastic, and the features are great. But one receptionist, a fair-skinned, skinny woman, was unhelpful and rude. Her poor attitude completely changed our impression of the hotel.
