Wayfarer Shinsaibashi

The room was surprisingly spacious for somewhere so close to Dotonburi. We booked through Booking.com just a couple of days before Golden Week and got about 60% off. I liked that everything was self-serve, and you use key codes for both the room and getting in after reception hours, so there's no key to carry around. They also stored our luggage before check-in and after check-out.

The lounge was comfortable, and the location was handy while still quiet at night. I found the price fair for what you get. My room was fairly clean and spacious, with the basics covered: WiFi, hot water pressure, enough outlets, hangers, and toiletries. Reception staff were friendly, and bathrobes and towels were available there. A few small things to know: the room floor isn't carpeted, so it can feel cold, and I noticed stains. Slippers are provided. Housekeeping only comes every few days, which was fine for me. The smaller rooms don't have a bidet, and the separate hot and cold shower knobs take a little getting used to. Sound carries through the walls, though there are just five rooms on each floor. Some high spots, like the ceiling, were dusty, but they're not places you'd usually touch. There was only one small lift and it never bothered me. If you need a humidifier, ask early, since they can run out.

Everything was spotless and comfortable, and you're only a few minutes on foot from the center of Namba. It made exploring the area easy without needing transport. Great value and location.

It's a modern place that suits you if you're mostly out exploring. The main attractions, including dotonbori, are nearby, but far enough away that noise wasn't a problem. The closest station was about 10 minutes away. Check-in and check-out were pretty simple, all through your phone. I'd come back.
