Hotel Kailani

The pool and sauna area were great, and the outdoor BBQ space was well maintained. The rooms were quite large and worked well for families. But our favorite part was the restaurant and bar, with its roomy, nicely decorated space and a wide choice of food and cocktails. Chef Chris welcomed us, talked us through his international menu and vision, and the food surpassed our already high expectations. He made us feel like family. The management and staff were friendly, quick to respond, and accommodating. They’re used to hosting guests from around the world, and the multilingual team took care of all the needs of our large group without hesitation. We had an amazing time at Hotel Kailana and will definitely return on our next trip to Oshima Island.

A perfect place to unwind from busy Tokyo life. The kids chased stag beetles while we enjoyed the pool, sauna, and BBQ. The staff were bilingual and really accommodating with all the kids. 10/10.

The family running the hotel were kind and helpful, and seem to be doing good work bringing the place back. We’d like to return, hopefully once COVID has passed and things pick up again. It was a nice surprise on our trip to Oshima, overlooking rustic Habu port and village on the island’s southern end. The well-kept pool was one of the best features, a refreshing place for a dip on a hot July day. My wife and daughter had a blast swimming. Most of the amenities are basic, but that felt reasonable for what we paid.

A charming place for couples, families, or people visiting for work. There’s a huge summer pool, and the bath and lobby have been renovated nicely. It’s the only Western-style hotel in the area, which also makes it a good option for foreigners. The owners and staff are very helpful. I’d definitely recommend it.
