Otaru Furukawa Hotel

The staff were warm and welcoming, the snacks and drinks were amazing, and I found the onsen really relaxing. This was our favorite hotel in Japan. I hope we get to stay here again sometime!

The public hot spring doesn't allow tattoos, so if you have tattoos, I'd suggest booking one of the rooms with a private hot spring. It's really worth it. The lounge is cute and welcoming, and the hotel shop has lots of handmade items, which I thought was very cool. The staff are kind and try to communicate even when they don't know much English. I was impressed by the vegan choices at breakfast: tofu, rice, and fruit made a full meal even though I couldn't have everything. This is an extremely nice hotel, and I'd highly recommend it.

I loved the hotel's nostalgic, back-in-time feel, and the cozy lounge was a great spot to sip coffee with soft music playing. The stairs are full of treasures, so take a look. Staff were so nice that, when it started raining, they even hurried to the door with an umbrella for me. The outdoor fruit hot spring was wonderful too, with the fruit aroma making it extra relaxing. It was worth the stay.

We were here the night before my son's birthday and hadn't booked anything special, but the staff found out and made the dinner so memorable. They set our table with a birthday mat printed with his name and the year of his birthday, then gave him a card and birthday goodie bag. They also took a family photo, printed it in a birthday card, and brought out a cake at the end of dinner. It was incredibly sweet and generous. This was our second stay at Furukawa, this time as seven people in two rooms. The location is convenient, with a lovely canal view and walking distance to the photo spot, shopping streets, and fish market. The rooms were cozy as always, and all the meals were made with local Hokkaido produce. We couldn't ask for more and will definitely come back. Thank you so much!
