We camped on the beach in the off-season instead of booking a room, and used the parking, bathrooms, and showers. The owner was kind and helpful, and kept trying to speak English with me. The facilities were clean and well cared for, and the bathrooms stayed comfortably cool. After a full day at the beach, that shower felt especially good. You can rent or buy beer, barbecue gear, canopies, umbrellas, and other beach toys at affordable prices. It's at a great end of a fantastic beach, with one of Hokkaido's best sunsets.

The beach view is beautiful, and there's very little light pollution. Sakura Garden was clean and a nice place to camp. We put up about 15 tents in the sand, but ours came loose because we hadn't dug deep enough. That was our mistake; other campers managed to secure theirs. There's nothing to shelter tents from the beach wind, so weigh them down. The owner was very friendly and speaks a little English. The toilets were clean and had lots of built-in features. We didn't use the cabin, so I can't speak to it.

We were also charged ¥500 for beach cleanup, even though the beach was already dirty when we arrived and we cleaned up after ourselves. The bigger issue was the sudden price change: we had called four times, and the signs there said ¥1400, but on the day of the event they charged our group ¥1700 each. Maybe ¥1700 is the summer rate, but the timing of the change still wasn't okay.

The part-time guy works hard and is very likable. The parking fee posted is different from what they actually charge, though the real price doesn't seem too high for the facilities. The middle-aged man who seems to own the place smiles when you pay, then is extremely rude as you leave. It must be hard working for him, and I hope the younger guy keeps doing his best.
