The one nice thing was the free shuttle to Memanbetsu Station. The rest left me with a lot of bad impressions from my stay in fall 2011, seven years ago. I found cobwebs in the wardrobe, and the second-floor toilet was out of order because a water pipe had broken. The guesthouse guidebook said bicycle rental was free, but I was charged 1000 yen. The landlady was unfriendly and told me not to enter the guesthouse before 7 pm. Breakfast was poorly presented and put me off eating.

It was very affordable, and I slept soundly in a warm bed in a quiet place. Instead of breakfast, they made me rice balls. I know the owner has another job, so scheduling may sometimes be difficult for them. For a solo traveler wanting somewhere peaceful, I'd recommend it.
