Fishing and pulling in nets for crab and fish made our stay at Harbor House Kaname really enjoyable. We got around the language difference with Google Translate, so it was no problem. Thanks to the Ryu and Sakurai families for picking us up and looking after us so kindly.

After a delicious BBQ, we even got to sing karaoke that evening. Such a fun experience, I really enjoyed it!

Harbor House Kaname takes cash only, so keep that in mind. The nearest ATM is at a Family Mart about 1.5km away, a pleasant 20-minute walk. My wife and I went out with Captain Sakurai-san and his family in April 2026 to harvest seaweed and fish. We had a fantastic time learning traditional fishing techniques, and he was a wonderful host. We'll gladly recommend him to friends visiting Japan.

The food at the end was fantastic: our catch became sashimi, tempura, seafood soup, and steamed dishes, served with grilled pork, local seasonal vegetables, and delicious rice balls. The owner took us to several fishing spots, always smiling, and his young assistant worked hard too. He used a translator to communicate with us, so we had no language barrier.

We had a really productive two days here and would love to come back. There were two adults and six children in our group, and the staff were kind and helpful throughout. Since the kids were close in age, they played catch and other games together.
