The staff were quick to respond and did their best to meet our requests. We stayed at Japavista for three nights with friends for a ski trip to Rusutsu resort, and had an amazing time. It’s a new, clean house with all the amenities we needed, plus a modern, lovely interior. The spacious bedrooms each have their own bathroom, which was convenient, and the setup works well for friends or family sharing.

You really need a car here. We arrived by bus at 6:30 PM and had to miss dinner because there was no way to get into town for food. Taxis don’t run here, and the hotel shuttle only travels between the hotel and mountain at set times. Getting through to hotel support was hit or miss, and sometimes the English was limited. Many employees speak Mandarin, if you happen to speak it.

A lovely place to stay while touring Hokkaido. Try to visit during the on-season, since nearby places are all closed in the off-season. We’d definitely come back and stay again.

We never got an email from the owner, so check-in was a bit complicated and we had to call on the day. Apart from that, my friends and I were very happy with the location and the house we rented.
