Daiwa Roynet Hotel Omiya-Nishiguchi

The rooms and ambience are very good, and Omiya station is super close. There’s plenty of shopping nearby, with everything in the vicinity. The only challenge is having to get a water bottle from reception every day.

April 2025 Daiwa Roynet hotels have a familiar feel: modern design, spacious rooms by comparison, good value, and generally a good location. This one is a 10-minute walk from the nearest JR station, on the business side of Omiya. The restaurant street by the JR station’s East Exit is about 15 minutes away. Japanese businessmen seem to favor the hotel, and it doesn’t cater to tour groups, which I liked. Parking costs JPY1800 for 24 hours, but it’s single exit. If you leave, you need to pay another JPY1800. Get your ticket validated at reception. There’s coin-operated laundry on the 19th floor, with a 3kg load for JPY600 and a 1kg load for JPY500. It only takes JPY100 coins, and you can monitor the washer in real time 😁. Wi-Fi was decent enough for online video calls. Daiwa could be my favorite hotel chain in Japan so far.

I enjoyed my stay, and there was no unpleasant odor in the room or from the AC, which matters to me because I’m sensitive to bad smells. The hotel is clean and modernized, with easy access from Omiya station. Still, on my first visit it wasn’t always kind to guests, and some employees didn’t seem very professional. Breakfast was worse. At the buffet, a young woman was chatting and focused on her mobile device. The food selection was too simple.

The front desk woman was very helpful when I realized I’d booked a smoking room but needed a non-smoking one. She changed us to another room right away, and did that three times. Date: 1/23/2025.
