The room was small and had no view, but it was clean and tidy. The hot spring bath was nice, with an outdoor pool, though there wasn’t a view from it either. Dinner and breakfast were excellent in a beautiful Western-style restaurant, with delicate Japanese dishes alongside fresh homemade pizza and pasta. Breakfast also included traditional Japanese fare, so there was more than enough to enjoy.

I was glad the kids could use the bath in our room, because the hot spring left me uncomfortable. The water felt slimy, which may have been from the natural spring or the chlorine, but the smell was so strong that I wondered whether too much chlorine had been added. Even after rinsing off in the shower, I could still smell it on my skin when I got back to the room, and my skin felt tight, so I showered again. The sauna was drafty, its thermometer stayed at 70°C, and its clock had stopped. It gave me the impression that the water wasn’t being properly maintained.

I went for the hot spring, and it was great. The sauna was only 70°C. You could use it, but it didn’t seem hot enough to make you sweat, which was disappointing for sauna fans.
