The room we chose had a bedroom and was spacious and comfortable. I enjoyed the hot spring three times, and it felt great. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff were kind and welcoming. A friend found this hot spring spot because of its reputation for beautiful starry skies. I'd been looking forward to seeing them, but it snowed during our visit and we couldn't see any stars. The next morning the clouds cleared, giving us a stunning view of Mt. Chōkai covered in white snow. I'd love to come in summer next time, when I'm sure the mountain will look completely different in all its greenery.

I came just for the onsen, without staying overnight or having dinner. It was great. On a foggy, drizzly, chilly morning, I spotted an outdoor bath after stepping into the ofuro. I went out and soaked in the hot water while the cold air refreshed me.

At 520 yen admission, you get shampoo and body soap, plus free lockers for valuables between reception and the bathing area. I went on a weekend afternoon, and while the bathroom itself is surprisingly compact, it wasn't crowded enough to be a problem. The clear, colorless water felt refreshing. It's on a hill with a great view. The indoor bath has big open windows, and the outlook from the outdoor bath is lovely.

I often come for a day visit and a soak. The place is quite far from the city center, but the location is outstanding. The outdoor bath isn't especially big, yet there's nothing in the way of the view. On a sunny day it's so nice I don't want to get out.
