Machiyado Aete

The projector room and ping-pong table kept our group of nine entertained after we arrived, and we left with some lovely memories. The owner was so polite and kind, the service felt divine. It’s a renovated house, very clean and relaxing, with the feel of staying at your grandmother’s place in the countryside. The location is a little beyond the city center in a residential area, but we were given directions to find it. It was cold, so the heating took a while to kick in. They also seem to offer BBQs, so I’d love to come back in summer.

Our host suggested things to do nearby and places in Takamatsu, and the recommendations fit our trip perfectly, even though we hadn’t planned much. The hostel is close to the sea, and the winter view was beautiful and calming. I also loved relaxing under the kotatsu in the Japanese-style room. I’d like to return in summer to see that ocean again.

I spent a week here through a countryside homestay program, and the host family made me feel so welcome. The sea and mountains are close by, and all that nature was a real reset for mind and body. There’s even a stylish theater room in the basement. They seem to have things like BBQs, bonfires, and table tennis, so I’d love to come back with friends.

The beach and beachfront shops are an easy walk away, as are the station, supermarket, and convenience store. The ocean is beautiful, and the owners are friendly enough that we quickly felt like friends. There’s plenty of equipment here, whether you’re coming with family or friends, in a small or large group, and you don’t need to bring much luggage. Sanuki City is easy and fun to explore from here.
