The lockers would feel more convenient and secure near the head of each bed, and the toilet on 1F could use more room. It was so cramped that washing my face meant bending sideways. Even with those suggestions, I enjoyed the stay and am keeping my 5-star rating. The guesthouse is one of the newest and cleanest capsule places in Sapporo, and among the best three I’ve stayed in so far. I loved how cozy it felt and wished I could’ve stayed longer. It is quite a walk from the train station. I was fine traveling light, but the distance might be an issue if you’re carrying huge suitcases.

The wooden floors creak as you walk, and the sound carries clearly into the living room. I couldn’t hear it from the bedroom, though. The place felt welcoming, almost like home, with its warm wood decor. I especially loved the soft, fluffy blanket and didn’t want to get up. The bathrooms are spacious and separated by gender, with the men’s on the first floor and women’s on the second. There’s a kitchen that residents seem to use a lot, plus a shared area with enough tables for about 20 people.

The bed was wide and comfortable, and I slept well. Getting up to the upper bunk in the dorm took some effort, so I made sure I didn’t need anything downstairs before climbing in. The male toilet is on the first floor, a bit of a trek if your room is upstairs. There’s also a kitchen in the lobby. Yuyu is centrally located for the Snow Festival and close to most places, though not the airport bus stop. I’d stay there again if I had the chance.

The staff are super friendly, and the guesthouse is large, clean, cozy, and really warm in winter. Breakfast is available, with coffee and bread that were very good. The toilet is ensuite. You can spend time with other guests or have some quiet time in the small library room.

It’s close to downtown Sapporo and a great spot for the Sapporo snow festival. A cozy place to stay, with friendly staff. One of the best Guest Houses I’ve stayed at, and I’d really suggest it if you’re visiting Sapporo.
