We stayed nine nights during the Snow Festival, when the rate was doubled to around ¥41,800 a night. It was an okay stay. We skipped breakfast to avoid eating almost the same thing every day and to bring the cost down a little. The hotel is on Tanukikoji 5, opposite Norbesa, with its Ferris wheel on top. It sits between the Odori and Susukino Namboku Line stations, so you can choose which one to use, but both are a 10-15 minute walk away, not especially close. The upside is that you can walk to the festival areas at either Odori or Susukino, and reach the subway without getting rained or snowed on. The airport bus stop is a few blocks away when arriving. For the return trip, the stop is across from hotel Abest, about a minute’s walk from the Hotel Vista, which was handy. We took the train on arrival because heavy snow had suspended the bus, and there was a lot of walking from Sapporo JR station. They don’t clean the room every day, but they do collect trash and replace towels daily. I wish there were an option to keep the towels instead. The room was spacious enough for us, since we mostly used it to sleep. The front desk were helpful and spoke English well. I’d probably consider staying here again.

The elevators were quick and never seemed busy, and getting to a tram or subway only took a few hundred meters. There’s also a direct hotel entrance into Tanuki Koji. The airport bus stop is about 100-200 meters away for trips to the airport, and roughly 400 meters away when arriving from it. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. The service was excellent for the price. The eco cleaning schedule felt a bit too strict, though. Cleaning every three days might work better than waiting five.

The food was tasty and good quality, though breakfast stayed exactly the same throughout my eight-day stay. I also found the four-day cleaning schedule a little odd. They said it was for SDG reasons, but why four days instead of three or five? At least they brought fresh towels and complimentary bottled water every day, which was nice.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, and the location is excellent. Our room felt a bit cramped for the three of us, though, and there wasn’t much space to open our luggage.

Even though the hotel sits on a busy shopping street near a major subway stop, it was super quiet inside. The location in Sapporo is really central. The room is small, but it works just fine.
