Breakfast was a miserable experience. We were in a hurry to catch our flight and asked for an 8:00am breakfast, but they said they couldn't arrange it, so we had to accept that. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:52am and were let in, then told to sit and wait because it wasn't 8:00 yet. We waited until 8:05, with no one coming back to serve us. There was no water or tea, and nothing to do but wait. The food finally came at 8:07, after we kept chasing the staff around the restaurant. The service was the worst I've experienced. The room wasn't clean either: there were stains on the WC seat and leftovers from the previous guest beside my bed. The hotel's facilities weren't good to begin with, but we could accept that since it was a converted hotel. I don't think I'll return to this hotel, or likely to the same group.

The outdoor onsen was beautiful and peaceful, and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms were nice too. This is a lovely ryokan with personal service. They handled our vegetarian needs very well at dinner, printing a separate menu and checking all the ingredients. There were clams in the breakfast soup, though.
