Shinseto Station Hotel

The breakfast was delicious and worth the price, and the staff made the stay especially pleasant. The two men at the front desk were kind and helpful, and we enjoyed chatting with them. They treated us with real respect and warmth. The hotel is older and shows its age in places, but everything was kept clean and tidy. We stayed at The Shinseto Station Hotel in November and would happily return.

Cozy and inexpensive, and pretty much the only place in town.

The bathroom in the twin room is the one drawback, with very little space between the bath and toilet. Otherwise, I had no issues. The hotel is thoughtfully put together, right down to the octopus-like footrests by the pillows. It’s about 200 meters from Shin-Seto/Setoshi Station and has a real Showa retro feel. The price isn’t especially low, but for the location and cost, I can’t really rate it poorly. Foreign guests seem to give it high marks. Maybe the old-fashioned key setup doesn’t seem odd to them, since hotels in small European towns still often ask you to leave a very heavy key at the front desk when you go out.

I spent about two months at Shinseto Station Hotel during my internship in Japan, and felt comfortable there the whole time. The room cleaning and service were consistently thorough and well managed. What stayed with me most was how warm and considerate the staff were. Their daily care helped me feel at ease, and I’m grateful for all they did, even when it was simply part of their job. I’d confidently recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for making my stay so meaningful.
