We stayed for two nights and came away pleasantly surprised. Our family room was very comfortable by Japanese standards, and the hotel is modern with a good onsen. It takes conservation seriously, so there isn't daily housekeeping, but they do provide fresh towels and water. The buffet included mostly Japanese food with a small international selection. Some dishes repeated, but they tasted good, so I didn't think the complaints about the food were justified. This was better than many four-star international chains, despite the three-star rating.

I especially liked the onsen and lounge area. Rest was difficult, though: the people above me had kids running around all evening and early in the morning. On the second night, a tractor clearing snow from the parking lot was noisy for pretty much the whole night. Neither issue was something the resort controlled.

We stayed one night at Kiki Shiretoko Natural Resort after visiting Oshinkoshin Falls on a short trip to Hokkaido last week. The hilltop setting among the forests gave us lovely views of the surrounding nature and the Sea of Okhotsk. Our spacious room had comfortable bedding, a clean modern washroom and nice toiletries. The Tree Side Buffet was a highlight, with lots of cuisines and memorable flavors at both dinner and breakfast. The hotel itself is large, with modern amenities and a spacious lobby. We also enjoyed the free drinks from the machine dispenser, along with chocolate and candies, and the in-house shop made it easy to pick up local products. Service was good, and we had a delightful stay.

The meals use plenty of local ingredients, and the staff were attentive. I also found the hot springs and sauna clean. From the room, you can see the Sea of Okhotsk in winter. I'd like to come back.

The buffet dinner was delicious, with all-you-can-eat Wagu steak. The rooms are very spacious and have dual temperature control. It's a very modern, luxurious Onsen hotel.
