Oyado Kiraku

The ocean views from the rooms are lovely, and the inn is handy for the Utoro bus terminal, roadside stations, and convenience stores. What stood out most, though, was how thoughtfully the owners helped me plan my time. I had limited mobility and didn’t know much about winter in Shiretoko, so they asked about my interests and offered useful advice without making a fuss. They knew about a special film screening at the nature center and suggested I go. It was very moving. Even while busy, they shared local dining tips and other things I wouldn’t have known otherwise. I learned a lot. I highly recommend this inn. The video was taken a five-minute walk from the nature center, where we went snowshoeing.

I was concerned at first that dinner not being included would leave me short on food, but finding somewhere nearby to eat at night was easier than I expected. Over my two days and one night, I got to talk with the owners on several occasions, and many were very considerate. That’s just the kind of guesthouse experience I was hoping for! ☺️

We had a really nice stay, and the owner went out of his way to help us with whatever he could. The set meal was delicious and nicely balanced, with fish, crab, meat, eggs, and soup, all full of flavor. We also stayed at Kiki in Shiretoko, and I personally preferred the breakfast here. The rooms were spacious and clean, with all the essentials provided. There were chocolate, coffee, and other drinks at the front desk, and you can enjoy a hot spring bath as well. Shiretoko itself is beautiful, and this guesthouse made the trip feel special. Next time I come back, I only want to stay here. Thanks again to the owner for the great service!

The room's tatami had an unpleasant smell. The bathhouse and toilets, though, seemed quite new. There were two cute cats, but they were shy around strangers.
