Healthy Pal Akagi

My favorite part was sitting by the window, feeling the breeze and looking out at the Tonegawa River. We enjoyed the drive up into the mountains, and the room had a traditional Japanese style with nice art around it. Dinner had plenty of variety. The bath was spacious, and the outdoor one was just the right temperature for a long soak.

I came here because I was feeling a bit worn out and wanted a change of mood. It turned out to be a restful stay, and I'd like to come back. I stayed in a single room. Some hotels feel extremely cramped, but this one had a decent amount of space. The river outside the window added to the peaceful feel. The inn was only 70 steps from my room to the men's bath. From the open-air bath I could see the river, and I chatted for a while with a few day visitors while soaking. For dinner I upgraded to Yamabiko. There was plenty to choose from, and although nothing stood out as special, everything was warm and delicious and I left full. Breakfast included a buffet, a set meal, bread, and side dishes. The next day I used the map in my room to walk around the area and bought manju from a recommended shop. It was delicious. One small hiccup getting here: entering the phone number into my navigation system took me to the wrong place. I searched around and guessed this might be the spot, then saw a busy parking lot and the sign for Hanayu Utopia Akagi, with Healthy Pal Akagi next door. It's a small two-story building.

The quiet autumn setting beside the Tone River was lovely. The spring water is excellent, and the place feels like a hidden gem. I stayed overnight, and the location is convenient for a day trip or a driving stop, about 10 minutes from Komochi Roadside Station and Akagi IC on the Kan'etsu Expressway.

We've come here many times for get-togethers with family and relatives. When our whole extended family stayed, the banquet hall was big enough for us to have it to ourselves. The food was delicious, and we had a great time singing karaoke after the meal. They also have glamping and BBQ facilities, which I'd like to try next time.
