Hotel Tenbo

We stayed in room 631. It’s very old, and the Wi-Fi signal there was zero, so we couldn’t connect at all.

The buffet was tasty, and I especially liked the Grand bath Onsen. It felt fancy and was just the right temperature. We came here 5/21/2022, and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is huge, with lots of facilities and fun activities. It’s quite far from the Ikaho Onsen Steps, though the location was okay. Our medium-sized room was neat and well cleaned.

There seem to be plenty of banquet halls for parties and events, so I’m guessing group events are a big part of the hotel’s business. It could work well for a large gathering. The outside looks old and dated, but stepping inside was a pleasant surprise: the Japanese-style interior was upscale and very clean. The rooms were also stylishly furnished in Japanese Ryokan style. I did notice a faint cigarette smell despite requesting a non-smoking room. It could have been a one-off problem caused by previous guests rather than the hotel itself. If you’re here for the hot springs, check out the one on basement 1. It switches between men’s and women’s use at different hours each day, so check the schedule. Rocky stone seems to be a theme. I especially liked cooling off on the long wooden benches between dips, the rawnatural wood was really comfortable.

The food and service were good, but I didn’t think much of the onsen water itself. My room smelled a bit, and they should clean it and get rid of the odor. There was a Hikevision camera in the breakfast room checking body temperature. Taking pictures of our faces to check our temperature raises a privacy concern, and seems unnecessary.
