Shiki Daily Hotel

Really nice place, and the staff were friendly.

The location and cleanliness were both strong points. The rooms have been reupholstered, and the unit bathrooms don't feel very old. Air conditioning is separate, though that may depend on the room. Disposable slippers and other amenities are available in the lobby. There's just one elevator, but the building isn't very tall, so it wasn't much trouble for me. It could depend on when you use it. The TV is small, sits on a separate fridge away from the table, and doesn't have online streaming. The tables are small too, probably because of the room layout, and may not work well if you need to get work done. There are no outlets beside the bed, which can be inconvenient these days. Also, there's no auto-lock. I had a plan that included free breakfast but didn't try it, so I can't comment on it. There's no affiliated parking. The lobby has a map of nearby lots, though I didn't use the hotel's own parking and can't speak to it. Restaurants and convenience stores are close enough to walk to, so finding food wasn't a problem. My main issue came during my January stay. Since the room had its own air conditioner, I asked at the lobby about a humidifier and was told they didn't have one. They do lend them out, but every one was already taken. That was the hardest part of the stay for me. I feel every room should have one, even a cheap model. I tried leaving hot water in the bathroom, but it got too hot and produced so much steam that it seemed like it might set off the fire alarm. I hope they improve this. The facilities left me a little disappointed, even though this hotel compares well with the nearby ones. I think it would be fine in spring or autumn, when this wouldn't bother me as much.

Being close to Shiki Station means there are lots of restaurants within walking distance, as well as a convenience store, so food is easy to find. The free parking is first come, first served. My kei car fit without trouble, though the space felt tight, and I think a larger car might need several attempts to turn around. With business hotel prices going up, I found this place very reasonably priced. Breakfast comes with the stay. It's the usual business hotel sort of menu, but I had no complaints and could eat as much as I wanted. I'd come back, especially for a night out with drinks and an overnight stay.

Free parking is limited, but there's a coin parking lot about a 3-minute walk away that charges 700 yen for 24 hours. The hotel is in the busy area near the station.
