The room was roomy and clean, though there was a slightly musty smell. Staff were courteous, just a bit slow, and the meals were hit and miss. The onsen was very basic, and the rest of the ryokan felt standard too. Nothing was really bad, but I’d treat it as a backup if other places nearby aren’t available.

It’s been neglected for years, and the place looks miserable inside and out. People are being misled by old photos from when it was in better shape. Someone needs to do something. Just shameful.

The staff were so polite, and both meals were delicious with plenty to eat. But the room was extremely dirty. It’s an older building and some wear is understandable, but it didn’t seem properly cleaned. Dust covered the shoji screens, especially by the bathroom, and there was hair in the drain. The bathtub felt rough and still had grime from the previous guest 😅. It looks nothing like the Google photos, so I can’t recommend it.

We nearly decided against it because of the poor reviews, but went ahead and stayed in a suite cottage with my spouse and our two dogs. The room was spacious and clean, and although the main building is old, I didn’t notice the problems mentioned in the reviews. The staff were pleasant, and the food was delicious with lots of different dishes. My only small wish was for a slightly bigger bath. We had a really good stay, and I’d like to come back. Maybe give it a try without letting the reviews decide for you. Thanks for looking after us.
