The sea views were lovely, and I caught the sunrise too. Getting up the slope could be a bit tough if you aren't driving, but the warm welcome and thoughtful service made the stay feel special. They printed my name for the shoe rack and meals, left complimentary fruit and a local snack each day, and one staff member carried our luggage up the stairs and kindly drove us to the ferry terminal. The obasan at the counter was especially welcoming. It felt like a very authentic, homely ryokan. Just be aware that the toilet is ensuite, while the shower is shared and next to the onsen. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it 10/10.

The traditional Japanese feel of the facilities was lovely, and everything was clean and well maintained. All the staff were kind. I arrived on my birthday and was offered breakfast and fruit at check-in, whether that was because of the occasion or not. It made my day. If I need a room in Shimabara again, I'd definitely stay here.

The room and onsen both had superb views, and I loved my time here. The price was great, and the service was lovely. The complimentary fruit and snacks were delicious too. Wish I could've stayed longer. ❤️

We could watch ferries coming and going to Kumamoto city, and the bath was decent. The hotel staff picked us up at Minami-Shimabara station, and the meal was great.
